Day 11...End of the week thank freakin god
So..today was a high-tension day..I knew I was going to speak to the client at 4- and had many, many meetings leading up to it..if ever I wondered if I am an emotional eater...well, today helped me figure that out.
So, without further ado:
2 eggs 1 toast 340
1/2 hour workout with trainer
1 chicken leg with carrots 250
chocolate chip cookie 250
kraft dinner (the smart version, whatever that means) 250
85% chocolate 250
so thats 1340 cals. Not bad considering I ate the chocolate and the cookie. Bwah! a workout helps too.

Day 9..this time its personal
Ha,. I just felt like wriiting that. Theres nothing NOT personal about this blog.
Today I started out the day and said Fuckit, Im having a piece of bread. So I did. Doing nutty diets has to go the way of the garbage-o. No carbs is nice but it doesnt work when you have a trainer who kicks your ass.
And he did today. I liked it. I know that I still need him, and that I work harder and more consistently than I do on my own (if at all)..but that its like Im in a different place in my mind when Im training...and I am enjoying it, and I didnt completely lose my progress, and now I just build and build and build-exciting.
So today:
2 eggs 1 egg white
1 piece toast (0 sugar)
4 mini-summer rolls with chicken
1/2 mini lemon square just a bite basically
chicken breast meat
7 grain salad
2 pieces 85% chocolate

Day 7 ...although this is Day 8...
So yesterday was Monday, ok diet day but I was still feeling sort of sluggish...
3 eggs 1 toast
turkey and stuffing leftovers
turkey and peas
1 cupcake
85% chocolate
Today I decided that I'll not eat carbs for a few days to "reset" my sugar cravings and get away from the chocolate every day...which needs to stop!!! so...
3 eggs with some almond milk
veggies at green door and tofu
ham steak and spinach
I need to detox a little so I'll re-introduce carbs by the weekend (no sugar carbs ofcourse)..already feeling the effects of carb cravings...ugh.
Back with the trainer tommorow!! happy to do..

Day 6..Easter Sunday..meal maker..
Today I made the full Easter dinner and I gotta say..it was pretty awesome...
So todays eats were ok, but as with any meal that is special, there are "special" exceptions. nonetheless Im happy with what I made and what I did. I feel good having made a great meal for my family.
2 eggs 2 toasts this am
a few schrimp with cocktail sauce
a few shreads of pita whole wheat with hummus
turkey, roasted root veggies (awesome!),. green beans, (also awesome) celery and leek stuffing -awesomely awesome, (from biggest loser recipes) and gravy (made with chicken stock and package...low sodium..
chocolate torte made with whole wheat flour, splenda brown sugar and whipped cream with stevia. Not bad!
Then I polished off some 70% chocolate. Ahem. that might have pushed me over the edge.
Oh well.
I will go to the gym tommorow, and get into the swing. start back with my trainer on wed so gotta get back ontrack foodwise too. But again, I wont feel bad since I feel like I made food with my heart and soul today. and that was a good thing.
Happy Easter~!

Day 5..roasted kale and other adventures..
So today I am back into it..started to feel my groove again..started the day off with a spin class..and watched a program yesterday where Gwyneth Paltrow was showing how to make roasted kale chips...so with my new obsession with all things veggie, I thought I should try it. Hmm. I think I need practice. Oh well.
Todays food:
1 toast with PB bfr spin
2 eggs 2 toasts after spin
veggie platter AGAIN! tofu stir fry, avocado salad, quinoa salad, cabbage, spelt bread, and a slice of pie. Hmm. good.
later: the roasted kale disaster.
85% chocolate
lipton chicken noodle soup
Gonna make easter dinner tommorow . Wish me luck.

Day 4..Back on the so-called wagon...whereever its taking me I'll go...
Today was back on the train..one thing I must note is that waking up with bright sunlight definitely motivated me to get my ass in gear.
So today I FINALLY went to the gym, feeling better, healed, did some good running on the treadmill, some pushups, and some upper body work. Not a huge workout but enough for me to be sweating pretty healthily. I love the feeling of being strong in my body.
Admittedly I feel like I lost a few weeks there but I'll get them back.
Food today was ok too:
2 eggs 1 toast
gym
new veggie restaurant today- wow I'm obsessed..:tofu stirfry, redcabbage and tabouleh salad; avocado salad, 1 piece spelt bread; 2 squares 86%
tuna sandwich
frozen yogurt and a cup or so of popcorn.at the movies.stopped before I got to the bottom of the bag! whew...
Spin tommorow. My resolve strengthens.

Day 3...where is my trainer? and my motivation?....
Hmmm..so yesterday's eats were ok. again. nothing horrendous, nothing great.
2 eggs 1 toast
oatmeal with splenda brown sugar
what was left of the serrano ham (less than 100 grms)
chick pea curry - chick peas, curry paste, coconut milk, corn, tomatoes...
naan bread
85 % chocolate.
Voila.
Today I was hoping to get to the gym. Not happening-waited all day to find out if my boss has submitted the deal approval I am waiting on..Im so frustrated I could strangle someone..and I STILL dont know.,..
Today's eats, since I've done most of it, were better:
2 eggs 1 toast
green door vegetarian tofu stir fry, kale salad, spelt bread
and whatever I have for dinner, which looks like movie food now seeing as I may see a movie tonight.
I will plan to visit the gym for the next three days without fail, fri, sat, sun and I think my trainer is back Monday but its to be seen..in any case I'll be happy to be back in my routine..I am farrr too easily distracted and obv need to be beholden to someone in that way to ensure I work out...bad me!

Day 2...being sick sucks...
So since starting again, I am feeling very much ....not well. I guess I'm just gonna have to take 'er easy until wahtever it is runs its course, so I am dissapointed in my workout schedule (or lack thereof)..gonna try to do something tonight even if its just going to the Athletic Club and running around a bit. SOMETHING!ugh.
Food yesterday was ..meh. Sick and no energy doesnt help with resolve. Anyway:
2 eggs 1 toast
oatmeal with splenda brown sugar
serrano ham -shaved (prob 100 grams or so)
tuna sandwhich (relish, halffat mayo) on five grain no sugar br
squash soup (1 gram sugar per serving)
2 squares choc
handful of cashews
1 toast with pb and honey
So not monumentally bad, but not on plan. I need to get back into my routine. Where s my trainer to kick my ass? Ahhh,,this just tells me Im not ready to do it on my own. Which is fine. Adrian will be happy to know that I "need" him.
Started with same today, probably gonna have oatmeal again (the weather seems to be influencing my food choices too..its so unseasonably COLD here it sucks) so I'll report back tommorow. Ugh., god I hope this all passes. I'm so NOT LOVING IT. Bah-dah-ba-ba-pa!

And awayyyyy we go...AGAIN.
So back from vaca, was fun, did some workouts, some weights, but week back did only one *YIKES*workout.
Food has been sort of all over the place..sometimes really good, sometimes bad. I guess not having a routine and a plan is my very worst enemy.

2 eggs 2 toasts
tofu sandwhich on spelt , organic date square (halfish)
salad with> serrano ham, guac, sesame seeds, peppers,
a few squares of chocolate 85% (3)
tea
Countdown to Vegas: to June 8th 2011- less than 60 days! yayayyy! not really

Day 59...MINDFUL EATING and other thoughts about health and fitness and women in their forties
Another post as I sit here (not knowing when I will post next due to travel etc):
I am immensely proud of so many of my friends- we have all, it seems, turned the tough corner of being mindful of our health-some were there earlier than others in eating organic and less processed but all have come around in their own way.
Last night before we went to dinner the conversation was as much about fish oil as it was about anything else- and everyone had an opinion on it- what we should be taking to supplement our diets, what exercise works, food woes as per usual etc. What was cool was that all of us were talking about what workouts we liked- In that one room each of us had done spinning, someone was talking Zumba, two others about kettlebells they were doing at home since they dont belong to a gym- it was kinda ...cool.
At dinner we talked about food triggers- I know for me that eating high carb or high fat sets me on a roller-coaster- even in that moment, (after I ravenously went through a fair bit of food in a very short time period) I realized that alot of the time, especially if I'm in a social setting, I'm not "mindfully" eating. Meaning I'm not even sometimes aware of how much food, or what food, Im ingesting -because i'm paying attention to conversation, to other things besides what I'm putting in my mouth, or if in the case of last night, I'm over-hungry and not paying attention to what Im hungry for.
SO THE PLAN NEXT WEEK IS TO EAT...WELL..BUT..MINDFULLY. Pay attention! And not to let myself get THAT hungry. Should be easy when there is food around regularly...ah all inclusive.
Even though none of us is perfect (read: Last night's chinese food) I guess what I am most happy about is that everyone is trying to eat better, feel better, and yes ofcourse look better, for themselves and their loved ones..One thing my trainer and I have talked about is that "you surround yourself with "like minded" people- so you gravitate towards people who think as you do....and by golly now its true- I think we were all in our own ways in a certain amount of denial about getting older and about the work that needs to be done in order to not only stay in shape but get INTO shape...it seems like we're all on the train.and for that, I;m grateful- means I'll have my friends that much longer.

Day 59...getting ready to hit the road for Punta Cana...wheeeewww
So yesterday's eats were ok, could have done without the chinese food- started off as per usual- pretty well, spin class and running all over town getting ready for the trip and for Marion's b-day party. In the end we had a great night, dinner and a play called "women fully clothed" which was hilarious. I dont see enough theater =gotta do more of that.
So food-wise: Marion wanted to go to Yantzee for dinner...so we did, and we all enjoyed, and then complained about our distended stomachs afterwards..lol..thats us.
1 ezekiel bread with pb (pre-workout)
1 hr spin class with weights (Fun)
12:30- 1 savoury scone with scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, salad from Sconewitch. Awesome.
Coffee
around 5pm- 2 glasses red wine
Chinese food (Dim Sum) wonton soup,- 2 ha-gow(Steamed dumpling), 2 shumai (steamed shrimp ball), 1 bbq pork bun (not much of the bun), few mouthfuls of various other people's stuff (no rice or carb-y type stuff) pork dumpling ...ugh-that was bad
1 fortune cookie (I had to its bad luck..ha)
Dont love eating chinese food as it stays with you all night and then some...but its yummy nonetheless. I probably should have eaten in the afternoon then wouldnt have been so ravenous at dinner.
Today finishing up the packing and then driving to Toronto, boarding a flight tommorow at 11 to Punta Cana! Yay! can do some work on the plane ride down, if I can get the proposal sort of "ready" then I can send it off to my boss and then the client, and maybe have the rest of the week to relax. That would be nice.
GOing into the trip, health and fitness-wise, I feel pretty good. I will do some type of workout- at the MINIMUM, as per my trainer- 15 mins hardcore twice a day should keep me at the same level. so if I can do a little cardio each day plus some weight training I should be good. And I'll be careful on the food- its all inclusive so ofcourse an opportunity to do one of two things- eat selectively or eat like an idiot. I WILL NOT EAT LIKE AN IDIOT. Too much work to come back to - plus-bottom line- it makes me feel yucky, as per last nights' chinese food.

Day 58...A new look, and new url...
I changed the look and URL cause..well, its spring, and you never know who might be lookin...gotta keep it fresh. Also because Im focused on more than just eating - more diet, workout and general health stuff now, so wanted to make it less about one particular diet and more about...more.
Today was a great food day and high stress since Im leaving soon for Punta Cana and cannot "unplug" from the office as I was hoping to do. It means bringing my laptop to a foreign country where I am supposed to be sipping margaritas and cuba libres...but anyway..
2 eggs and 2 ezekiel br
tofu (2 kinds), avocado salad, mixed greens, coffee
2 squares 90% choc
Well just got back from dinner.
Had a beautiful piece of halibut and a few glasses of red wine. Im still not sure about wether red wine is GOOD or BAD but for a friday night, when its been a stressful week, and Im about to go on vaca- I say YES.
SO all in all a pretty good food day, and a good start to a vacation week.
Tommorow I'm off to spin class in the early am, then a full day of festivities for Marion's 50th b-day. Mani/Pedi/drinks at Marions/Dinner and a play. And maybe some adult fun after that. Heres hoping.
I've also as per my commitment= posted today's Photo since its April 1st..no foolin' me! I see steady if not huge changes, thats what I want. Id like to focus on the hip and flank area since thats still flabby but as Adrian said that has more to do with diet than workouts, so have to have discipline there.
I also discussed my training for the next month- its going to be an interesting challenge as I will and then Adrian will be away until April 24th- so I will have to stay disciplined in doing workouts while he's away= I may mix it up a bit with some of the classes that I havent tried yet at Athletic Club= and I'll go to the gym on my normal days when I'm back and try to do a workout like I would with Adrian. It'll be a good indicator if I am ready to do this on my own or if I'm still dependant on him to ensure I can commit to the workouts.
